She has also taught Health and Social Care in college and holds a First Class Honours Degree in Sociology. She has incorporated this knowledge, experience and an ongoing interest in the emotional wellbeing of young people into her work - using a range of strategies such as solution focused and motivational interviewing. As well as holding the Connexions Diploma and working on the Mental Health Breakout Project, Julie has pioneered several successful and innovative approaches. She co-led on the successful community Nutz project, working with vulnerable 16 -19 year old males and also piloted an alternative approach to working with Year 10 students at risk of dis-engagement. She went on to initiate and lead on the now established Group Mentoring Project.
