Julie Ganeson - Senior Careers Adviser
A qualified Personal Adviser, with an NVQ L6 in Advice and Guidance, Julie has worked extensively in universal careers guidance. However, her specialism is working as an Intensive Personal Adviser supporting young people presenting as vulnerable, at risk and/or in crisis. Prior to joining Connexions, Julie came from the Mental Health Nursing profession. She has also taught Health and Social Care in college and holds a First Class Honours Degree in Sociology. She has incorporated this knowledge, experience and an ongoing interest in the emotional wellbeing of young people into her work - using a range of strategies such as solution focused and motivational interviewing. As well as holding the Connexions Diploma and working on the Mental Health Breakout Project, Julie has pioneered several successful and innovative approaches. She co-led on the successful community Nutz project, working with vulnerable 16 -19 year old males and also piloted an alternative approach to working with Year 10 students at risk of dis-engagement. She went on to initiate and lead on the now established Group Mentoring Project. Julie has also run community drop-ins, offering information, advice, guidance and support to young people presenting with anything from homelessness to unemployment and requiring help with a job application.
